The brief for this café was simple – to use natural materials for a place that serves natural food. It is situated along one of the liveliest streets with cafés – Oborishte.
The space has no partition walls, and is large enough so that your back does not rest on your neighbour’s. The alternation of dark and light, of solid, open and translucent, creates a dynamic that brings a sense of social liveliness.
A highlight of the project is the garden that hangs from the ceiling, woven into metal structures around the two existing air ducts. The floral installation has hand-made elements – the pots are dressed in coffee sacks and placed in hand-woven macrame. Even the oak elements for the lighting fixtures are custom-made – this is how an absolutely original structure is created, at first glance casual and even chaotic, but actually carefully thought out and designed. The terrazzo flooring is custom made by us.
