The project develops a new workspace for the French gaming company GAMELOFT. The client aimed to attract its team members back to the office after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The design challenge was to make the office appealing and comfortable, yet distinctive, so that the team would feel a sense of belonging there. From one hand, the custom designed furniture creates an environment that brings game developers from virtual reality back to the feel of real world. On the other hand, accent design elements reference recognizable for them images from fiction.
office spaces
The space is located in a new office building in Sofia’s historic center and is divided into two floors, each measuring around 650 square meters. The design solution takes advantage of the space’s good lighting and incorporates plenty of greenery, arranged on shelving units—which also serve as room dividers—specifically designed for this project. The custom-designed desks, armchairs, sofas, tables, wall shelves, and cabinets made of natural materials contribute to the sense of the real world on a tactile level.
design
Some of the challenges that the design deals with are the specific characteristics of the space and the diversity of work modes, team collaborations and the company’s activities. Two main types of workstations have been developed — one for the in-office team members and another for those with a hybrid attendance. There are many meeting rooms, conference rooms, and spaces for informal conversations, varying in type and size. A specific color scheme has been developed for each of the two floors, incorporating playful and entertaining elements into the environment.
