The task for this project was to design and adapt the ground floor of a building in Sofia from the 30’s for a mixed use café with a co-working space open to visitors.
Stairs and a split level were added. These new elements were treated equally, so that they are differentiated visually from the existing building structure. A unifying element that was designed was the bent plywood used for the meeting booth, the balustrade of the split level and some of the wall partitions. This material allowed the booth to stand as a foldable structure, that can be used whenever it is needed.
